Hydronic balancing of HVAC heating and cooling systems is essential for many reasons. It is necessary to achieve proper indoor comfort and for the system to operate as efficiently as possible. If hydronic balancing is not properly implemented, user complaints, additional costs, and a reduction in the system’s lifespan value can be expected.
Independent Pressure-Dependent Control Valves (PICV) combines hydraulic balancing functions and temperature control into one product. They are simply set to design flow and used in heating and cooling systems with variable flow conditions.
Automatic balancing valves eliminate pressure fluctuations in variable flow systems. With additional pre-set radiator valves that limit the maximum flow through, for example, radiators, the system can be hydraulically balanced. Another automatic balancing solution is provided by independent pressure thermostat radiator valves that combine differential pressure control and flow limitation into a single valve.
Thermal balancing valves establish proper balance using the temperature entering the circulation pipes of the hot water system. This provides a very effective system.
Manual balancing valves can be used in constant flow systems, such as systems with 3-way regulating valves. They must be controlled to establish the design flow.
